Hello Andy,

Thanks very much for such a detailed and helpful reply.

Excellent pics and useful information.

Links 2 & 3 are actually the same shot, so couldn't see the bird flying away.

I notice on the details of the last shot that the focal length says 600mm and the digital zoom says 1.5, is this the camera setting?

My favourite shot is actually the blackbird, common or not, but they are all good.

Did you go to Ace Cameras in Bath?
You did say you would let me have an idea of the serial number of your D800E, to compare with my dealer's stock in Salisbury, it would be helpful when you have time.

I want to get the 500mm f4 but it won't be in the near future, I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks again I will be watching your website.

Kind regards

I must have pasted in the wrong link. The link should have been to

a Goldeneye, flying away fast.

I have no idea why the last one is showing 600mm. It was taken with the 800e and the 80-400Afs as per the other ones. I know what you are saying about the backbird. I think it is great performance at and iso of 6400. It does help to get close to the birds.

I got the 800e from LCE in Bath as none of the Cardiff shops had one.

Take care
