BIF Lens, IMHO "My Best Lens" For The Job w/A99

For those that have viewed my recent BIF images (over the past week) know that I have been experimenting with some of my favorite lenses:

  1. 70-400mm G
  2. 70-200mm G f/2.8
  3. 135mm f/1.8 ZA

Each of these lenses are top quality and superb in their own right. I think we all know each of these lenses have their unique strengths and perform best for specific areas of work and conditions.

Most people probably thought it was odd when I chose to try my 135mm f/1.8 ZA to do BIF (well it is odd but I wanted to try it anyway because I could work at distances where a long lens was not necessarily required).

My Future / preferred Use Of These Lenses:

  • I will use my 135mm f/1.8 ZA to produce the fine portraits and for low light situations.
  • I will use my Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G for low light theater, inside school and church programs and portraits.
  • I will use my 70-400mm G for BIF, Air Shows, outside sports / action and some specific close focus work with wide open aperture (spring wild flowers).

This has been a fun experiment but it’s clear with the lenses I have that the 70-400mm G is best for BIF.

Thanks to all the DPreview forum members for comments and suggestions (I am still learning about BIF and how to best use my equipment).
