I get what you're saying, but I'm in the no-articulation camp for 6D.

It's marketed as "cost conscious pro" (whatever that is, probably meaning part-time wedding photographers, or as backups).  Lower cost means less features.

Also, the 6D body is smaller than the 5D.  It takes extra room to make a nice articulating screen flatten down to where it's flush.  It takes extra room for the hinges and the LCD bezel and the back and sides of the LCD and the bay on the body behind the LCD.  Trying to squeeze this in would just make the whole camera more back-heavy and ungainly, which loses its advantage as a "small hands FF."

If you need to periscope, I suggest a live-view wifi tablet.  I haven't used one and I assume it's a bit worse than an articulated 3 inch screen.  I'm glad I don't have to periscope yet, I far prefer an optical viewfinder framing.
