Wifi Geotagging not working
Feb 17, 2014
Trying to get Geotagging function to work with XA1 and iPhone.
Connection can be made between Camera and iPhone, Phone shows connection and gives IP address set no problem. Indeed the image review function fro the Camera connection app works fine as well. But when the Geotagging functon is attempted its simply a no go, the phone will not make a connection and reports that the Wifi connection requires establishing, even though the phone reports a connection is there. The camera times connection times out and the connection is dropped.
Steps so far have been.
1) Make connection between iPhone and camera - and checked IP address is ok.
2) Launch Camera Connection App - attempt to connect, always fails.
Have tried on two iPhones, iPhone 4s and iPhone 5s, both running IOS7. Tried on 2 iPads, iPad2 and iPad mini. Al with same result, failure to connect.
In all cases a network connection is established, and IP addresses have been checked as established.
In all cases the i devices have been checked that location services are active on the app, and that the likes of the compass are working correctly and showing co ordinates.
Resets of network connections have been made on the i devices and on the camera. I have also tried to make a connection in the field and well away from any source of possible interference, still no go.
It has also been double checked that the network name and the camera ID is exactly the same on the devices and the camera.
Fuji support have not been able to assist, they even said they have not tried a connection between an i device and a camera only an android device!
Anyone have any ideas what to try next? Other than to send camera in for checking and service or returning to retailer.
Has anyone been able to make a good connection on any of the X series cameras that support Wifi Geotagging.
