Nikon 400/2.8 on Pentax K-5 II (6 imgs)

I think I've found a better way to mount my Nikon 400/2.8 lens to K-mount without the use of adapters. Thru the use of a long lens support that I found on ebay and a Canon tripod mount ring that I found on ebay I am able to sort of fit the Nikon 400/2.8 into the Pentax-F 1.7X AF Adapter and then via the things I found on ebay I can fit the lens tight to the Pentax-F 1.7X AFA that is attached to the Pentax K-5 II. I can focus to infinity. I can also fit it to just the K-5 II without the use of the 1.7X AFA. I can also fit my Nikon 800/5.6 to my K-5 II in the same manner. Now, if I want to, I can fit thse lenses to my K-01 or K-3 and use focus peaking.

I took some shots outside yesterday of subjects at distances of about 50 feet to 350 feet and the Nikon 400/2.8 + 1.7X AF Adapter was spot on and very sharp.

Below are some test shots I took inside under a 75 watt tungsten light. I had to short the pins on the lens side of the 1.7X AFA using aluminum foil in order to have autofocus. Subjects are at about 25 feet. I show some crops also. The box was sitting at about 45 degrees.

So....What do you think?

Dang! I might have found a pretty good small bird shooter here.
