Re: A couple 'Tree Rat' shots, and a 'Busy Bee'...

The DTC is short for 'Digital Teleconverter' Function. Several Oly m4/3's cameras, including the E-M5 and E-M1, have this function.

Essentially, with this function engaged the camera crops the original file dimensions by 1/2 to the center of the frame, then resamples that resulting 4 MP file back to a full 16 MP Jpeg file.

The results are very good from my experience and result in very good detail. The benefit is that you can view and compose the final image in the viewfinder while shooting, and what you are getting is a 2X FOV from any given focal length. So the 75-300mm (150-600mm FF equivalent) gives you a 150-600mm FOV (300-1200mm FF equivalent) when using the DTC.

Of course you can do the same thing in post processing -- the DTC simply saves you all the extra work.

I have my DTC Function assigned to my 'Record' Button, so I can easily toggle it on and off.
