Re: Help me choose a portrait lens

The 35 focal length is just about perfect on crop for infant photos. I have the 50F1.4 Canon and 85, and both are too long indoors at times. Sometimes, there isn't enough room to back up. My 50 mm Canon is sharp at F2 and wider apertures, but I prefer a wider focal length indoors.

Max magnification is good enough for those wanted close shots of hands and feet. The 35F2 IS is sharp wide open, light and reasonably compact, with very accurate AF. F2 is fast enough for photos in low light, yet often gives enough depth of field. I have short macro lenses (F2.8 Tokina 35 and Sigma 50), but f2.8 isn't fast enough for some locations at night.
