I'm looking to purchase a Olympus 12-40 f/2.8 Pro. I have a E-PM2 body. From what I read, E-PM2, OMD EM-5 and OMD EM-10 all have essentially the same sensor. Would E-PM2 + Olympus 12-40 have comparable image quality as OMD EM-5 or EM-10 + Olympus 12-40? Or should I invest in a new camera body to complement the Olympus 12-40?

NO.  I briefly owned the EPM-2.  I found the IBIS on the E-PM2 so useless I ended up turning it off.  I suppose it's better than nothing, but not very effective and prone to shutter shock.  And the results are even worse for video (all you have is some sort of electronic stabilization).

Unless you really need the extra 5mm or closer focusing distance, you're better off with the 12-35mm.  It's a smaller, lighter lens, and it will give you much better stabilization.  Just be ready to tick the CA box in lightroom.
