About a year ago I noticed a Crested Pigeon in our yard limping badly. I took a few shots with a long lens and discovered it had a tangle of threads wrapped around and deeply embedded in it's foot. I set a net trap and caught the bird. All but one toe on the foot were dead (black). In the process of removing the threads it was necessary to remove the damaged toes. After applying some antiseptic I released the bird. A few days later it returned and is a daily visitor. My wife named it "Stumpy"
Stumpy walks with a limp but is otherwise healthy.
Here he/she is, enjoying a shower from my garden sprinkler this afternoon.
