Complete newbie here! NX300 questions and advice needed...
Feb 8, 2014
Hello all... I have had a notion to get into photography and am basically starting from scratch. I know very little about terms that you all use but since lurking on this forum I have picked up some basic knowledge, so thanks!
I have always loved taking photos but always done so on a compact camera and more recently a smartphone camera (Nexus 5 - which is a TERRIBLE camera!!) I have been looking at reviews, calling into stores etc and the camera that has grabbed my attention most has been the Samsung NX300. I want a camera that is compact, great image quality, modern features (wifi, NFC) and looks stylish with good value for money.
I have a few questions...
- Is this a good camera for a beginner? It is a lot of money to invest and I want to make sure I make the right decision.
- I have been considering the Fuji X M-1 also which is available for almost the same price but has a free lens offer. The NX300 comes with a free copy of Adobe Lightroom 4 by comparison. The lens offer seems a lot better but I think I like the idea of the touchscreen, NFC, etc, it just seems more modern. Thoughts?
- I will be doing photography lessons or joining a club. Will people likely turn their noses up for this not being an SLR camera? Or am I just being paranoid lol.
- Is the flash that comes with it good? I will probably just be using the flash for indoors pics at family events etc.
- How is the 18-55mm lens that comes with it? At this stage I probably can't afford another lens but will look into getting another in the future. Most of my shots will be city, events, landscapes etc.
Sorry for probably repeating a lot of what may have been asked before, I'd appreciate any answers to the above or general advice to help justift this potential purchase!
Thanks in advance
