I took almost 5000 photos using the MKII of people passing by. I shot them at 200mm f/2.8 to get great bokeh using the non IS version of the 70-200mm f2.8L and very few were OOF.

Sure the AF on the MK III is better, but it sounds more like you need to look at your technique - hip shots give you very little control.

Forgive me but... take street photography with a big white lens about 200mm long is like go birding with an M1 Abhram tank.

Street is usually about get in touch with your subject, go aside your quarry... interact with people and upper all... be discreet!

With a 200mm is people hunt.

I did a similar project about 7 years ago and have never had a single complaint. I now intend to use the f/4 version of the lens in order to reduce weight.
