I experienced a very similar issue with my T4i (practically the same as the T5i). The first T4i body I had did not squeak, but it was affected by the rubber grip recall, so I swapped it at Best Buy as soon as they received a new batch. That second T4i made a very audible and annoying creaking sound when I held the top half of the grip, between the IR sensor and the lip underneath the shutter button. It bothered me enough to exchange it for a third T4i, which fortunately has been perfect for over a year now.

Interesting.  Wonder why this is a common problem on Rebels.  Is there no way to just pop the grip off and stick some foam down there or something?
