Re: Just bought a used SX130... any thoughts???

I don't have the SX130 but do have the SX150 (not listed in my gear signature) which is almost identical except for a few details. While it's not an outstanding camera and just sort of 'middle-of-the-road', it's a pretty decent and reliable camera that I think takes nice pictures at or below ISO 400. ISO 800 and 1600 are pretty noisy but still have a fair amount of detail, and the lens is pretty decent too. At least to my eye it is. I have a couple of close friends who have the SX130 and use them all the time, usually capturing nice images. The one thing you have to remember is to manually pop the flash up in order to use it. It's not automatic. Aside from not having a viewfinder, the SX130 and 150 remind me of the older A-series cameras when they still had full manual control and were actually good cameras that a student could learn the basics on or that an experienced photographer could be really creative with. I think you'll enjoy it. Plus, how can you go wrong for $40?!!!
