I said I wouldn't, but one more SX50 Moon

I said I would probably not be doing any more portraits of the Moon with the SX50, but last night's thumbnail moon is my wife's favorite and out I went. What gained my interest was that the shadowed globe of the full moon was barely visible in the cold clear night. To try to capture those shadows, I had to resort to Manual exposure. This resulted in a little blocking of the highlights along the sunlit edge, but did pick up the terminator and shadowed glow of the globe. Auto focus was set by the camera, which I locked in before composing the shot.

My wife enjoyed the image and I post it for anyone else who might do so as well. The globe is easiest to see in a darkened room.

My wife's favorite, the thumbnail Moon, is best viewed in a darkened room.
