Problems with panasonic Lumix G6 in low light

Hi all,

Just bought a Lumix G6 and trying to find my way around it. (Seems potentially to be a great camera but far from intuitive, like the user manual, particularly because of the way it is written).

Trying to take long exposure photos at night (starlight sky background) setting to manual mode, tried many settings ISO and up to full aperture, very slow (seconds) exposure the shutter would not fire, the camera complaining "LOW" even when set on bulb. Which it seems has a max of 120 seconds. I eventually did get it to release by setting AF off in the record menu but the results were disappointing.

It seems Manual on this camera does not mean manual.

Has anybody one of these who can give some insight / help please.

I don't know but maybe the G5 is similar.

Thanks in advance.
