8.5 by 11 pigment printer??
Another alternative is to run (Ultrachrome-matched) pigment ink sets from 3rd party companies like Precision Colors and Inkjetcartsus in 8-12/x11 models like the R220, R320., RX260, RX380, etc., i.e. six positions. Amazingly, I see some of early R and RX printers go for high prices on eBay these days, but I think they are sought after for CD/DVD printing. I found a $5 resetter on eBay that can reset an amazing spectrum of Epson OEM and 3rd party refillable carts.
I run pigment ink in the black position of the R220 for black only printing. One advantage of the oldest Epson printers is the black only mode.
The Epson DuraBrite 4-color printers are good, not great, in my experience, but you can find a refurb on Epson Store for reasonable cost.
