If you want to stay mentally stable and not spend hours/days with useless testing, do what Leonard suggested: field-test the lens and see how you like the results.

Honestly, nobody really cares if the bottom left corner of your image is somewhat softer if you have a great image. And nobody really cares if your image is sharp across the frame if there is nothing of interest on the image (e.g. a cat or a test chart ). Avoid the pitfall of 'overtesting' the lens. Go ahead and shoot. You will love this lens with its effective VR and great focal range. And shooting at 16mm is great fun, regardless of distortion or corner sharpness. I love it and I don't give a damn about test charts.
