Trivial, but isn't regional marketing odd?

You could reverse that & say that regional preferences are odd ? It has been commonly accepted for some time that Americans , for instance , have a preference for all black cameras whereas Asians seem to prefer Silver models.

These are , of course , generalisations & there will always be exceptions to these rules. Perhaps Fuji is test marketing to check on regional preferences ? Coloured camera bodies are controversial but the exact shade & hue can make a big difference. I tend to associate metallic colours with P&S cameras but other opinions may vary.

I think there are all sorts of variables, but the manufacturers don't always seem to take regional preferences into account.  For example, until their hand is forced, Panasonic normally seem initially only to offer chrome/silver cameras (as in the cases of the GX7 and GM1) to the US market, which is generally believed to prefer black.

I'm in the UK and happen generally to prefer chrome topped cameras, probably because that was the norm for SLRs when I took up photography, and also because I've a longstanding interest in collecting and using rangefinder cameras from the fifties and sixties (primarily - definitely the "black & chrome era, where the black was the leatherette).  But even then, the precise design of the camera and even the style of the paintwork can affect my preferences - for example, I find that the black version of the X-E1/X-E2 design looks really nice to me.
