Trivial, but isn't regional marketing odd?

I just noticed that one colour variant of the X-A1 doesn't appear to be marketed in the USA, whereas I see it is in Canada (and in the UK, where I am, it seems to be the one given star billing for X-A1 publicity on the Fujifilm website).  I wonder what drives these decisions?  It's the red version, which isn't like a red version of the blue variant, but is more akin to the tan X-M1 - silver 16-50 lens, silver top and base, and a rather nice subdued red leatherette, slightly cushioned - the tan X-M1 looks smoother whilst the black leatherette on the other X-M1 colours is a completely different texture.  It's actually rather nice and the only X-A1 not to have the pimpled vinyl finish (the rear of the camera is a satin metallic red).  Seems an odd one to leave out of the marketed range since it might pick up a few sales through being a different style to the other two (more retro, I suppose).

I know it's really a superficial thing, but it's late, and I get curious when I'm tired...

Similarly odd is Panasonic's approach with their little GM1 - I believe the most commonly-seen variant in the US is the silver & black, whereas in the UK it's relatively hard to find - the majority of stockists got the all-black in straight away and now even the "orange"/tan version is getting more common.
