D800 Autofocus issues II

Please see the link in Olyflyer's post which shows Nikon's own suggestion for testing. Although this won't clarify whether the D800 is less tolerant to the type of focus target than previous generations of camera it should at least provide you with a set of images which can be compared with those of someone with a fully functional D800 (if they relent and accept there is also merit in testing to show a camera hasn't got a fault).

May I suggest tungsten light using AF-on AFC focus method (typical settings for taking a casual portrait of someone indoors). Perhaps even use a book with a portrait on the front as the target?

If you can establish your camera has a problem when others don't then you will have better grounds to return it to Nikon for repair.
