Exposure Bracketing question

Some help for a beginner please.

I took some bracketed photos yesterday, and it was only afterwards, that I realised I had spotted something unusual.

Normally when selecting bracketing on my 650D, the range for AEB is indicated in the viewfinder display with a line at the two extremes of the AEB range selected eg +1 & -1.

I realised afterwards, that this time there were 2 small lines at the +1/-1 positions. I thought nothing of it at the time, but it was only later, I realised I did not know what this means.

My manual says nothing about it (that I can see) on page 119/120, and I cannot find it anywhere else, presumably as I cannot think what to call it to look it up in the index.

Any help welcome.

Thanks
