Yes, I've read that as a work-around. I still would like to see Olympus issue some kind of proper fix for this issue. It is obviously possible for them to completely turn off the backlight if they want to, as they do when you press the button.

On the same note, I seem to recall that when I tested the E-M5 for current draw, the EVF actually was drawing more power than the LCD. I could be wrong about this but if there is enough interest, I can test the E-M1 to see if this is the case as well.
