Re: Buying new lens 17-40 or else?

I use the 17-40 and the 24-105 on crop bodies. The 17-40 is an excellent lens on crop. However, it is not fast at F4,  and you would need a faster lens for low light. It has great color, contrast, and resistance to flare. I use the zooms outside, most of the time. I use fast primes for indoor photos without flash (35F2IS), but if you want a zoom for this and don't mind the size and weight, the Canon 17-55IS is good for general use. The 17-55IS is the size and weight of the 24-105 (it is longer but 1 oz lighter) but gives you IS, F 2.8 and good AF in low light.
