I think the minimum cover i would go for is public liability but this is debatable during the portfolio building process as I am not charging in initial stage.

As I am not providing any services or charging money to my clients, at this stage i think i do not need to worry about professional indemnity.

Be careful with your assumptions.  Even though you are not yet charging it might be a business.

There may be an important legal distinction between shooting photos of a friend in a park, and trading services with a stranger.
