You haven't mentioned what lenses you have, but on the assumption that you haven't got a f/2.8 or faster telephoto lens, the realistic answer here is "don't expect too much".

That said, the usual stuff applies: get out of the scene modes and into PASM. As a first pass, I'd get into shutter priority (Tv), choose the shutter speed you want and then start shooting. Remember that noise is better than blur, so don't be afraid to use whatever ISO you need to. If the lighting is consistent across the field, you could go into manual mode, set the aperture wide open and then set the ISO to get the correct exposure - this avoids any possibility of the metering being thrown off by any dark/light strips the players may be wearing.

Personally, I really wouldn't fancy doing this without AF. You may be better at manually focusing than I am (not hard, as I'm rubbish at it).

Hello Philip Kendal....

That's right.. can't effort to buy faster telephoto lens yet..

Yes, i do understand the "don't expect too much" part as i only own basic dslr..  i'm just really interested in moving subject.

Thank you for the tips... I never use 'TV' or anything other than the 'Sport' scene or 'P'... Thank you again...

I dont have the chance to use AF, as it already cant be use when i got it.. So to be truth - it happen many times that i thought my photos are sharp and clear but once i transferred it - it's blur! Hahaha..
