I'd suggest that you're attempting to universalize your personal preference and that's a huge mistake. Your assertion that the positioning of the finder on the left side has no advantages over center placement is unsupportable and you'll find that MANY of us disagree with you in the strongest of terms. In fact, many of us find the placement on the left side to be optimal and much more useful than the center placement. Adding the smear about retro looks is just a ham handed appeal to emotion. Lame.
