I believe the OP mentioned he was NOT interested in the high ISO problems, but in the color rendition.

Anyway, having had an X-E1 and now X-E2, JPEG skin tones do appear to be slightly different, but not necessarily better or worse. I just looked back at a few portraits of the same person, shot in the same room, in front of the same large window, same lens (35mm), etc., and I do see a difference. The X-E1 JPEG seems to have a tiny bit more saturation and a very slight red/orange tone in the skin. The X-E2 JPEG is more "natural" looking to my eye.

The only problem with my un-scientific findings, is that I used to have the X-E1 set to Provia for JPEGS, and I have the X-E2 set to the ProNegH, so that could be part of the difference I'm seeing!!
