23mm 1.4 sharpness.

Hi guys.

after reading a lot of glowing reviews about this lens i decided to buy one..

i really like the focal lenght and the lens is really sharp stopped down at F4 or above corner to corner..

but fully open it looks mushy, and corners are really poor.

i made an home made charts to test it, and these are the results:

these are the center crops with a 23mm 1.4 mounted on a XP1 on a sturdy tripod and using a 10s delay.

i focussed each shoot individually.

and here you can see the lower right corner this time i focussed on the lower right patch, to eliminate any problems related to a field curvature)

here you can download the original files OOC i used for the center crop

now, if these result look really different from your experience, telle me, may be i got a lemon..

but looking the samples on photographyblog or on dpreview my copy seem consistent..

using the lens on real situation, at 1.4 on a stong contrast subject it looks almost "dreamy" it remember me the canon 50 1.4

the sigma 35 1.4 on a 6D it seem really a lot sharper on the edges and corner, fully opened.

Canon EOS 6D
