I remember reading Gary friedmans book where he mentions how he used to be one of many people who never used filter till his lens got scratched and regretted it.

You can get filter from £5 from £40-50 (and more). Low quality filters will reduce the IQ but if one buys a reasonable quality one, it will not so much. Just saying its your CZ lens, if you feel it needs protection then protect it. Why do you care what the rest of the world says, it you money on the line, filter or no filter.

All that I can advice is if you go down the filter route then buy one that will have the least effect on IQ.
