question regarding auto iso in manual mode

I've a question for one of you Nikon gurus about auto iso.  I'm currently a Sony A99 shooter, primarily birds.  I'm considering a switch to Nikon D610. The way I currently set up is manual exposure with auto iso set between 100 and 1600. As any of you birders know, shooting a dark bird against a bright sky requires increasing EC and conversely shooting a white bird against a dark background will require decreasing EC.  The way the Sony version works, once I've set my preferred aperture and shutter speed, I can change my EC and the camera will make the change by adjusting ISO.  It's darn convenient.  I've looked everywhere I can think to look, but have not seen this feature addressed with regards to the D610.  Any help would be appreciated.
