Freezing point of D7100

Us, North Pole inhabitants, have the opportunity to stress test our cameras and

As I am a would-like-to-be astrophotographer, I basically go out everytime we have clear skies. Which, invariably, translates into 'fresh' temperatures.

I have been using a D7100+Nikon 180mm f2.8 prime lens.

- at -14C, it freezes after 90 minutes out

- at -19.5, it freezes after 60 minutes out

'Freeze' meaning I get a nice ERR message and the camera will not respond to anything (including turning it off). So I get back in my car, turn on the heater at max, wait for 15 minutes, remove the battery, and we're back to normal).

Anyway, I am done with this. Never again below -10C. Too tough for the camera. I should not have gon eout the second time, but clear skies are sooooo rare that I got very frustated....
