Re: Nikon 50/1.8G

It's a good lens,  small, cheap, reliable. I have this and the 85mm 1.8G, and have used the 28mm. Which pending reviews of the new 35, will probably be my next 1.8.

The 50 is probably the weakest of the current trio. The other two have something special going on.  That said, i t still takes something significantly more expensive to really show better at this focal length.   What's better for $200?  It's really hard to think of anything with AF at least.  It's actually pretty hard to come up with anything under $500.   And not just sharpness, overall rendering too.  It takes a big leap in price and/or weight to come up with something better, and still most of those lack AF.
