G16 Thoughts and comparison to RX100
I have had an RX100 for over a year, I added the Franiec grip which improved handling, but I do find it a bit too small and the buttons quite fiddly. No problems with the image quality though.
I thought I would try a G16 out as I fancied a change and to see if it could complete with the RX100.
After my first few tests I thought I would have to sell it as my first impressions were that the IQ was no where near the RX100 (indoor wide angle).
After further tests I feel that although the IQ is not up there with the RX100, for me it beats it in several other areas:-
- Zoom speed, the RX100 is quite slow to zoom
- Handling, size, buttons, menus (for me)
- Viewfinder, although pokey and not too accurate, it helps out in some situations
- Wider aperture when zoomed in
Below are a few pics from my first outing:-
Not sure whether to keep both or sell one - or sell both when a large sensor G17 comes out!
