The 45mm doesn't have OIS. It's still good for indoor portraits because it's fast (both in terms of wide aperature and AF speed), but if it had OIS you could take shots with slower shutter speeds without blurring excessively. As it is, if you're in a room with low lighting, you'll probably need to crank up the ISO even at f/1.8 to get the shutter speed quick enough to avoid blurring, especially for moving targets (feisty pets, energetic kids, etc.), or use a flash.
