A winter hike in the high country (SX50)

Here are some results from my continuing struggle with the SX50 and landscapes.

I went up to the high mountains yesterday to see what I could see. It was sunny and warm up there, so it was quite enjoyable. While we haven't had a heavy snow year so far this winter the snow is still very deep, around (7 to 10 feet) and I did not bring my snow shoes so I stuck mostly to packed snowmobile trails.

Not a lot of large animal activity goes on up here this time of year as they have moved down to the lower foothills and valleys where the snow is not as deep and it is easier to find food.

As usual I am open to any constructive suggestions that will help me improve.

I stepped of the trail for this shot and immediately sunk up to my stomach. I had to hold the camera over my head for this one.

The snow was not as deep in the woods and I was able to follow and old snowshoe trail to get this shot.

I followed an old snow shoe trail and only sunk up to my mid thighs.

I stopped in the lower canyon on the way home to take this shot.

Thanks for looking.
