Upgrading from a Mac mini (2009)
Currently using the a 2009 mac mini. Aperture is on an external 1TB drive, time machine is a 2TB drive partitioned (1TB time machine 1TB for back up ofAperture library). All externals are FW800. Finished pictures are also stored on SmugMug.
I am looking at the 2.3 quad core mini. I have thought maybe getting the server with dual 1 TB drives. I like the idea of being able to keep my Aperture library on the main drive for faster access. If I got the server I would use the second drive as a Aperture library BU, and the external drive as a TM backup.
For the same money I could upgrade the single HD model to a 1TB fusion drive. I could still keep my library on the main drive ( library about 200 GB).Would then use the externals as back ups
My question is about the fusion drive, is it significantly faster ( in real world use) than the regular 5400rpm drives Apple puts in the mini?
