The 430 ex II is great, no question about it.  I also have a YN568 EX II and it's pretty darned good too, overall I like the Canon better, but the YN flash is mostly for off camera anyway, and it works well.  I use the 430 when on camera, and both for off camera stuff.  I'm thinking of trying the new Neewer NW680, because it's just SO CHEAP and supports ETTL and HSS as well.  Hard to believe it'll be good but the reviews seem to think it is.
