I had the K7 and have the (original) K5 now - in terms of control layout and general camera behaviour they're the same beast. Some people think the original K5 had an small improvement in AF but I can't see it. The sensor technology is a step up (a few more pixels is really neither here nor there) you mostly see that when the light is poor.  I wouldn't reject the K7 out of hand, but I'd want to see a very good price to get one.
