Focus Peaking and usability

Hi All,

I own a Sony Nex-6. I have set my camera to enable Focus peaking to the "high" level (color: red).

Here is my simple question: Do you have experiences where peaking shows on your screen, but when you review the shot, it happens that it wasn't really in focus?

For me, it happens maybe 50% of the time with the kit lens (16-50 PZ).

I have to say that with my two prime lens (SEL50 and Sigma 30), peaking is much more reliable.

What could explain that? I think that the camera identifies it's peaking level based on the contrast in the frame, but sometimes it's off, due to some "false contrast" and the camera can get fooled and show some peaking on the camera screen.

What do you think? Is that normal? I find it very annoying... Even when reducing peaking to medium, it still thinks some areas are in focus, it just shows less color... And the shot is not in focus. Same behaviour in MF.

Thanks a lot for your answers!
