learning to handhold a supertelephoto takes time

I am pretty sure that I would adapt to 600 with image stabilization quickly, as long as I could handhold a heavy lens without strain (Tamron is 1.95 kg, Canon 400 f/5.6 is 1.25 kg). The Canon 400mm f/5.6L non-stabilized lens is a strict taskmaster, you have to learn good technique to get results - but once you have some technique, the 400 is so light and easy to handle. It took me a long time to get comfortable with BIF, though, and I still need to have regular practice to stay sharp. Try some swallows for a challenge.
