D700 or D800 ?

My trusty old Nikon D700 seems to have bit the dust. It isn't turning on I will be taking it over to Shanklin camera repair, but I'm not hopeful. She's led a wonderful life, and captured so many great photographs. She has been dropped a few times, so I won't be surprised if this is the end.

In the meantime I'm deciding whether I would replace it with the same model (used) or with the D800.

D700 = 8fps D800 = 5fps.
D700 = 36 x 23.9 sensor D800 = 35.9 x 24 sensor
D700 = 12.1megapixels D800 = 36.3megapixels
D700 = no video D800 = video

Frames per second is really important to me because I do action photography. 8fps is my favorite thing about the D700. I don't know if I really need the D800's 36.3mp ? That's going to eat up a lot more space on memory cards and external harddrives. But it would be nice to have video with the D800; right now I have my old D300s cropped frame for video and it does not autofocus during filming.

Another plus with the D700 is that I already own the battery pack and lots of extra batteries. I'd have to purchase new ones for the D800; $349.99 and battery at $54.95.

Has anyone here owned both of these models ? Any insight ?
