Well, its heavier, but i think the 14 samyang makes the camera much better balanced, guess the 17-40 is a little heavy in the front.

I got the 14mm samyang first, but really wanted on with a little zoom, i would say, go with the 17-40 and then buy the samyang after, if you feel you need it. Dont get the 16-35mm, way to heavy and expensive, and 82mm filters...
