'pro' covers a lot of territory

By a huge majority pros here shoot Canon or Nikon DSLRs. Mirrorless is not even carried along as a secondary camera.

e.g., sports, journalism, events, wedding, portrait, fine-art etc.   If battery life, a versatile flash system, high ISO capability and pro support (repairs & loaners) are important, then Canon and Nikon are the only players.  If you are going to pool equipment, then you stick with one brand.

I know one local pro who recently ditched his Nikon for Fuji X series.  But he shoots mainly portraits and freelance journalism and so finds the increased freedom of movement offsets any of the disadvantages.  He also already has the reputation/contacts to sell his work so no-one will question him as long as he delivers.  On the opposite end, a fine art photographer I know shoots medium format film with a panoramic camera to create his niche.
