Yes its relatively Easy!

I have done with my MacPro Tower 2006. Downside are two. 1. No boot screen till logon screen but that takes 30 seconds from chime. 2. More than likely will have to re-install Tiamo boot_efi in two places.

Not really a biggie; either from a bootable usb stick or remove the drive use a dock. The other way is to have another boot partition and keep the original video card in slot 4. That way you boot up in a previous OS and insert the boot_efi manually.

I have mine running and am pleased with the new life. I did buy in the spring of last year an iMac 27 with a 1T fusion drive and ended up removing 3 drives from the tower and installing a USB 3 JBOD box to house the drives.
