10th Anniversary of my Canon EOS 10D - Bittersweet

Pileated Woodpecker - Canon 10D and 100-400mm lens

I took this picture on January 1, 2004 with my new Canon EOS 10D / 100-400mm lens combo. It was my first foray into the technology and I was amazed at how good the image looked (to me at least). I was sold on digital photography.

Unfortunately, things started to go badly wrong shortly thereafter. I couldn’t keep the camera’s sensor clean (it was really, really bad - like someone sneezed on the photos) and I gave up on photography for a while. It wasn’t until the 30D came out in 2006 that I waded back in - and have been happy and (mostly) dust and oil free ever since.

More on the photo and sensor issue.
