not having that problem with my 50/1.4

I don't seem to have the same problem a few of you have reported with the 50/1.4. Mine is quiet and quick on my 10D.

Could be possibility that since I got it just before the 10D came out, that it had been corrected already for digital cameras.

That or I am just lucky (more likely cause).

I do know that the lens and the camera have to talk to each other (otherwise the exif data would not have the lens data). Since all of my EF lenses have been bought in last year it might explain why I don't seem to have any problems, but others who have used for several years seem to have the most problems. I would suspect that sending the lens in with the camera makes sure the lens gets some kind of update at the same time, which is more then just calibration.

Just my experience and thoughts on the matter.
Quality is in the setup, Quantity ensures one good shot.
