I own both, and I find the 70-200 more useful. The ability to frame well trumps the extra stop IMO. The IS of both is very effective. I routinely shoot at f/4 with the zoom. Faster would be better, of course, like the 70-200 II. I used them on a crop camera, now on FF.

Most of the time, 1/30 sec was enough at 200mm on crop, if the people do not move.
