This lens is rarely off my 6D

I bought this zoom at the end of a trip around Japan in March last year, after my wife complained about all the gear I was carrying. This seemed the most natural lens to use for travel, because its range is useful and it is very sharp and has a reasonably fast aperture. On a full frame camera like the 6D or 1Ds3, it also has very nice bokeh. The 24-70 is a heavy lens and it is quite expensive. When I compare it to the Sigma 18-35 it is on a par. Given that the Sigma is about $750 and the Canon is somewhere north of $2,000, I'd say that Canon should reconsider its pricing policy, as Sigma is clearly knocking on the door to enthusiasts like me.

Nevertheless, the 24-70 MkII is a fantastic lens that delivers consistently great results. On the street, I find the range is so useful it rarely comes off the camera.

Here are 3 shots from last year's Zombie Shuffle
