Re: Tamron 60mm F2 Macro concerns

I own the Tamraon 60mm F2 Macro, and use it on an A55.

It has been a very good lens.  My selection was based on wanting a multipurpose lens.  It is a good focal lenght for portraits, and a good aperture for available light photography, as well as a macro lens. It balances well on the A55. Plus, the price is very reasonable.

The lens uses internal focusing, which is very nice for not disturbing subject matter.

The only drawback is that some reviews have it as less sharp at smaller apertures than other lens with an F2.8 to F4 max aperture.  That matters to macro work, since as magnifications approch 1:1, your depth of field gets smaller and smaller and then even tinyer.

If I had lots and lots of spare $$$, I am not sure I would buy this lens again - but it wouold definitely be on my shortlist.
