Zoom lens - old lens vs 70 - 300 VR

Hi Guys,

I'm going to be buying a zoom lens soon for my d600.

I don't want to spend too much so the 70 - 200 VR is way out of my price range.

So i've been tossing up between the following 3;

-Nikon 70 - 300 VR 4.5 - 5.6

-Nikon Zoom-NIKKOR 80-200mm f/4.5n AI

-Nikon Zoom-NIKKOR 80-200 f/4 AIS

I can find alot of info on the 70 - 300, but not so much on comparisons with the older 80 - 200 lenses mentioned above.

There is quite a big different in price with these lenses, so I'm after some tips/opinions if anyone can help.

I know they say the older lenses are very sharp, but I think that was a couple years ago.. are they still considered sharp on a d600 with such a high pixel count?

I've previously used a tamron 70 - 200 (non VR), and wasn't too happy with it's image quality.

Thanks again!
